Gluten Free Pizza a Hit with the CFF's Fundraiser for Cole
When Terri Rotman, AGM at BJ’s at the Southcenter Mall in Tukwila, Washington received a letter from a mom whose son, Cole, has cystic fibrosis, she invited them into the restaurant to discuss a fundraiser. Here is her report on the party that was arranged:
The weather cooperated beautifully with the event on the patio with a sunny 75 degree day in Seattle! The pizza and salad buffet was a huge hit with both kids and adults. All of the attendees are members of the local CF chapter and, as I found out, many are members of the Celiac Foundation as well. We were able to make some gluten free pizzas and gluten free beer to the unmitigated delight of several of the attendees.
Cole of course was there and you can see him giving me a picture he drew for us for helping him with his fundraiser. We're looking for just the right spot to hang it in the restaurant so he can see it every time he comes in.
The check for $2,000 from the BJ’s Foundation more than doubled what they collected tonight and there were many, many tears of joy and thanks for BJ’s generosity.
When Cole left, he ran up, gave me a giant hug and sloppy little boy kiss on the cheek and said he couldn't wait to come back again and again.
