Meet the talented team of passionate brewers who bring their vision to life at BJ’s every day.  Our brewery management team prides itself in its diversity of talents and interests.

Alex Puchner

Sr. Vice President of Brewing Operations

Alex has been with BJ's since the beginning of 1996. He previously brewed for Laguna Beach Brewing Company and Huntington Beach Beer Company. He was also a consulting brewer for Newport Beach Brewing Co. and Westwood Brewing Co. He began homebrewing in 1986. And he's served as a BJCP National Judge. With this wealth of brewing experience, Alex came to BJ's and made us the Brewhouse that we are today! 

John M. Oliver

Director of Brewery Production and Logistics

John has been wiith BJ's since the summer of 1997, previously Assistant Brewer at Ebbets Field Brewing Co. (Springfield, MO). Homebrewer since 1986. GM of The Home Brewery 1994–1997. He goes by "Tobey" around here, and he is a valued staple of the Brewery team!

Aaron Stueck

Brewery General Manager

Aaron describes himself as having the brewer’s gene is blood. Derek is Head Brewer of Research & Development based out of our Boulder BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse. His creativity and innovation keep us inspired and passionate about what we do best; brew. 

Josh Fulk

Director of Brewing Operations

Josh previously served as the brewing and packaging team leader for MillerCoors and worked in Polymer Development for Goodyear Tire and Rubber. Luckily, we got him and he is now a vital part of the brewing team here at BJ's. 

Oscar Blanco

Head Brewer, West Covina, CA & Barrel Manager, Brea, CA

Oscar currently serves as BJ's Head Brewer in West Covina, CA and our Barrel Manager in Brea, CA. Oscar was recently honored as being the brewer behind BJ's PM Porter which won the prestigious gold medal for Robust Porter at the 2016 World Beer Cup! 

Greg Larsen

Head Brewer

Greg currently serves as the head brewer of the Chandler, AZ BJ's Brewhouse and acrobatic center. Larsen began his craft in Tahoe City at Bluewater Brewing and worked for several years at Marin Brewing and Third Street AleWorks.
